Harry Balanow, 80, of Stonehedge
Lane, South Bend, Ind., died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in the St.
Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend. He was born Aug. 23, 1916,
in Chicago, Ill., and had lived in South Bend for 53 years.
On Nov. 13, 1938, in Chicago, he married
Shirley Freeman. Mr. Balanow is survived by his wife;
three daughters, Pam Maddox of Mishawaka, Ind., Shelly Harris
of Millen, Ga., and Jill Clark of Granger, Ind.; a son, Ed
Balanow of Mishawaka; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren;
two sisters, Sophia Smith of Las Vegas, Nev. and Rose Pote
of Chicago; and one brother, Lloyd Balanow of Las Vegas. He was a
32 Degree Mason, a Shriner, and belonged to Temple Beth'El of
South Bend.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. today in the
Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Drive. Interment
follows in Rose Hill Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions
may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
