Helen Theresa Bakos

January 15, 1913 – May 1, 1996

SOUTH BEND – Helen Theresa Bakos, 83, of Cardinal Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, formerly of 1425 Chester St., died at 1:40am today in the nursing home.  Mrs. Bakos was a former employee of Inwood Department Store, St Adalbert’s Catholic Church as a cook and the University of Notre Dame.

She was born January 15, 1913, in South Bend.  On August 8, 1933, in South Bend, as Helen Theresa Goralski, she married Andrew G. Bakos.  He died September 16, 1981.  She is survived by three granddaughters, Cindi Stopczynski, Cathie Pynaert and Cheri Helvey, all of South Bend; four great grandchildren; a sister, Verna Mazall of South Bend.  A daughter, Rojean Marie Helvey, died September 14, 1981

Services will be at 10am Friday in Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home.  Burial will be in St Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. 

Friends may call from 5 to 8pm Thursday in the funeral home, where a rosary will be said at 7pm.  Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Society of St Joseph County.
