MISHAWAKA - Leon Lawrence Baker, 76, of Mishawaka, passed
away on June 25th in his residence surrounded by his
loving family. Leon was born in Hartford City, Indiana,
on December 21, 1936, to the late Floyd and Lillian Mae
(Thrasher) Baker. On July 2, 1955, he married Ruth E.
Schmuhl in South Bend. Leon was a member of the American
Legion Post #308 in Osceola, and also a member of the
Loyal Order of the Moose #1262 in Mishawaka. Leon is
survived by his loving wife, Ruth E. Baker; their son,
Douglas (Diana) Baker of Elkhart, Indiana; and two
granddaughters, Christine (Adam) Ross of Mishawaka and
Laura (Nick) Deka, also of Mishawaka. Leon was a
great-grandfather of 4: Gabriel Deka, Trinity Ross,
Austin Ross and Xander Ross. Leon is also survived by his
siblings: Frances (Harry) Landis of Hartford City,
Indiana, Mary Taylor of Muncie, Indiana, Clesta (Donnie)
Thomas of Hartford City, Indiana, and Lesta Petta of
Geneva, Indiana. He was preceded in death by one brother
and 6 sisters. Friends may visit with the family on June
28th from noon until 1:00 pm in the Bubb Funeral Chapel,
3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. A service celebrating Leon's
life will be held at 1:00 pm in the funeral chapel. As
per Leon's wishes, cremation is to take place and he will
be laid to rest at the Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka.
