MISHAWAKA - Jon R. Baker, 58, passed away on Friday, July 9th, in
his home. Jon was born on July 23, 1951, in Mishawaka, to Robert
Wayne and Lillian "Joyce" (Townsend) Baker. On June 18,
1994, he married Diana Kay Cole Keranen. He worked as a farmer.
Jon loved putting a seed in the ground and watching it grow. He
was a machine operator at Kelly's Inc. 22 years at Steel
Warehouse Inc., operating a crane and maintenance, and a hero for
Madison Township as a volunteer fireman. He belonged to the
Lakeville Conservation Club, and enjoyed fishing and nature. Jon
loved his family and friends. He took the time to sit and talk
and get to know some really good people. John is survived by his
wife, Diana Kay Baker of Mishawaka; stepchildren, Dan Keranen,
Sadie Atkinson and Betty Keranen; his step-grandchildren, Jordon,
Stogsdill and Hunter Keranen; his mother, Lillian
"Joyce" Baker; two sisters, Cindy (Dan) Weatherly and
Jodie Brink; four nephews and one niece, Dan and Ian Weatherly,
Rob (Jessica) Brink, Kevin Brink and Terri (Dennis) Raterink;
four great-nephews and one great-niece. Also an uncle, Bud Ross
Baker, and two aunts, Nina Harmen and Ruby Bressler, many cousins
and friends, and Corky, his dog. Also surviving are his
father-in-law, Cyril H. Cole; three brothers-in-law, Cyril (Judi)
Cole, Jack (Sylvia) Cole and Albert (Wanda) Cole, and a
sister-in-law, Linda (Bill) Lampos. He was preceded in death by a
son, Jason Baker; his father, Robert Baker; two sisters-in-law,
Denise (Tom) Melton and Connie (Dick) Shaut; and by his
mother-in-law, Betty (Cy) Cole. The family would like to thank
Dr. Jason Marker, Dr. Kenneth Pennington and Associates, the
staff of the Cancer Treatment Center at Goshen Hospital and
Hospice Services for their quality care and many kindnesses shown
to us. Friends may visit with the family today, June 12th, from
to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street,
Mishawaka. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, June 13th, at
10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, with Rev. Rob Brink officiating.
Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Memorial
contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice or
