SOUTH BEND - Oscar Baim, 78, of 2117 Leer St., died at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday in his home after an illness. Mr. Baim was born March 10, 1915, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.

On April 23, 1941, in South Bend, he married Maxine Helman. She survives, with a son, Max of South Bend; and two grandchildren. A son, Gary, died in 1983. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1167 and Hebrew Orthodox Congregation.

Services will be at 12:15 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery, Mishawaka. Burial will follow. There will be no visitation. Forest G. Hay Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to any charity.
