Lance Corporal Troy Dylan Bailey, 19, of Camp LeJeune, N.C., formerly of Granger, Ind., passed away following a car accident in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Troy was born Aug. 23, 1983, in Winamac, Ind., to Kenneth D. and Gloria (McGinnis) Bailey.
He is survived by his mother, Gloria Hudak and her husband, Jeff of Granger; his father, Kenneth D. Bailey and his wife, Kim of North Judson, Ind.; grandparents, Dorothy McGinnis of Mishawaka, Ind., and Troy and Frieda Bailey of North Judson; a sister, Lindsey Bailey of Elgin Air Force Base in Florida; five brothers, Jeffrey Hudak Jr. and Matthew Hudak, both of Granger, and Sebern Bailey, Zachary Bailey and Caedmon Bailey, all of North Judson; and by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Troy was preceded in death by his grandfather, James McGinnis.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, Ind. Services will be conducted by Reverend David Honeycutt at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, followed by interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, where military honors will be given at the graveside.
Troy enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in August 2001 following graduation from Elkhart Memorial High School and attained the rank of lance corporal. Lance Corporal Bailey loved his country and was proud to serve in Operation Iraqi Freedom from February 2003 to July 2003, where he was the crew chief on an amphibious assault vehicle. In his spare time Troy enjoyed riding motorcycles, and participating as well as watching drag racing at the Osceola Speedway. He was a member of the Deer Run Church of Christ, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the families of those who lost their lives serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
