GRANGER - Joann Bailey, 62, residing at Woods Edge Drive, Granger, Ind., formerly of Buchanan, Mich., passed away at 9:47 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, at the residence of her brother in Granger. Mrs. Bailey was born on April 13, 1935, in Memphis, Tenn., to the late Clyde and Ira Sharpe. She had lived most of her life in the South Bend area.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth D. Bailey and Michael A. Bailey, both of Mishawaka, Ind.; a sister, Dorothy Layton of South Bend, Ind., and by a brother, Danny Sharpe of Granger. Mrs. Bailey retired in 1974 from RACO in South Bend, after 15 years of service. She was also involved in helping the elderly for Family Services of Berrien County. Mrs. Bailey was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Moose and The Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, both in Buchanan.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County, Children and Family Services of Berrien County or to the American Cancer Society.
