Dr. Dann Bailey, 38, drowned off the beaches of Las Lajas, San Felix, in the Republic of Panama, on Monday, Nov. 4. Dr. Bailey and his wife, Teresa, were in Panama on a mission trip, through the ministry of the Harris Prairie Church of Christ. Prior to the accident, Dr. Bailey was able to conduct in-field medical clinics, providing treatment for the Guaymi Indians of Panama. He had been a team member on a previous medical mission trip to this culture. His efforts, combined with others serving there, helped to establish a Christian presence, and church, among this previously unreached group of people. Dr. Bailey was born on Sept. 27, 1958, in Knox, Ind.
Surviving are his wife, Teresa; four children, Danielle, Anna, Robert and Christopher; parents, Dann L. Bailey, Sr. and Geraldine Jensen of Knox; a sister, Robin Marquez; four brothers, Jeffrey, Michael, Phillip and Russell Bailey; and grandmothers, Luella Bailey and Marie Sparkman, both of Knox.

He was a partner at the Elkhart Clinic, a member of the Elkhart General Medical Staff, and a member of the Indiana State Medical Association. He was board certified in internal medicine. A graduate of Purdue University in 1980, Dr. Bailey received his medical education at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, Tampa, graduating in 1988. He completed the Internal Medicine Residency Program at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, in 1991.
