SOUTH BEND - Julius S. "Footy" Bagarus, 84, passed away
at 10:10 p.m. Monday, May 17, 2010, in his residence. Julius was
born on June 23, 1925, in South Bend, to Steve and Rose (Daras)
Bagarus. He was a salesman for Sunnyside Beverage and also had
been employed by the South Bend Water Works. Mr. Bagarus was a
World War II Navy veteran, a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church
and the Loyal Order of Moose. Footy also was an avid golfer who
played nearly every day at Notre Dame. On February 17, 1947, in
South Bend, he married the former Lorraine "Bobo"
Moskwinski, who died on February 12, 2003. He was also preceded
in death by two sisters, Ella Barkovich and Julia Dobrzykowski;
three brothers, Steve Bagarus, Louis Bagarus and Richard Bagarus;
and a son-in-law, Ronald Lewandowski. Surviving are three
daughters, Carol Ann (Neil) Huffine and Diane Lewandowski, both
of South Bend, and Linda Fassler and Al of Granger; a son, James
Bagarus of Mishawaka; eight grandchildren, Stephanie (Tony) Van
Overberghe, Shawn Corpe, Kevin Lewandowski, Nick (Rasheeda
Luqmann) Lewandowski, Cory (Valerie) Bagarus, Brock (Ann)
Bagarus, Andrea Fassler and Jenny (Nick) Pawlak; 14
great-grandchildren, Samantha Peters, Dena Peters, Chad Van
Overberghe, Brittany Van Overberghe, Kaleb Lewandowski, Ashley
Bagarus, James Bagarus, Alexis Bagarus, Mariah Bagarus, Julius
Bagarus, Cora Bagarus, Braden Bagarus, Tyler Parmelee and Grace
Pawlak; a great-great-grandchild, Payton; and a sister, Rose
Zwierzynski of South Bend. We would like to thank the nurses,
bath aides and social workers from the Center for Hospice, and
also caregivers Kitt and Cindy for the care and support they
provided to our Dad and family. A Mass of Christian Burial will
be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2010, in Our Lady
of Hungary Church. Cremation will follow, with burial of his
ashes at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family and friends may call from
2-8 p.m. Friday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble
Avenue, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:30 pm. Memorial
contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice and
