Donald E. ''Cubby'' Baer, 83, of West
Marion Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 4:30 a.m. on
Tuesday, Aug. 3, in Fountain View Place Nursing Home, after an
extended illness. Mr. Baer was born on June 9, 1916, in
Tippecanoe, Ind., as the son of the late Vernon and Laura (Huffman)
Baer. He was also preceded in death by three sisters and two
brothers.
On March 2, 1948, in Bourbon, Ind., he
married the former Maebell ''Mae'' Grandstaff. Mr. Baer is
survived by his wife Mae Bell of 62 years, and two daughters,
Sandra (Edward) Drake of Fremont, Ind., and Lisa Baer of
Mishawaka. One grandson, Robert (Candice) Drake and two
great-grandsons, Tristen Drake and Owen Drake. Two sisters, Donna
Belle Holston of South Bend, Ind., and Daisy ''Babe'' Marklay
of Rochester, Ind. One brother, Richard Baer of Tippecanoe, Ind.
Mr. Baer was a member of Michiana Community
Church of God. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War
II and also a past member of V.F.W. in Roseland, Ind. He was
employed by Parrish Machine Company for 15 years and retired in
1982.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on
Thursday, Aug. 5, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street,
Mishawaka. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 6
in the funeral home, with Rev. Erv Mize, officiating. Entombment
will follow in Riverview Cemetery, South Bend. Contributions in
