MRS. OCTAVIA BAELE
January 7, 1898 – November 3, 1979
Services for Mrs. Octavia Baele, 81, formerly of 1626 S. Taylor, who died at 7:25pm Saturday in the Cardinal Nursing Home after a lengthy illness, will be at 9am Wednesday in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Msgr. John Sabo, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7 to 9pm today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm Tuesday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 today by the St. Ann’s Society of the church.
Mrs. Baele was born on January 7, 1898, in Aaltre, Belgium, and had lived in South Bend for 69 years, having come from Aaltre. On April 21, 1920, in South Bend, she married Rene Baele, who died in January 1963. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Rachel Koloszar, and two sons, Henry and Roger, Tribune photo editor, all of South Bend; 10 grandchildren; a great grandchild, and a sister, Mrs. Flor (Marie) VanAutreve, also of South Bend.
