MISHAWAKA - Helen I. Bacon, 82, of Mishawaka, passed away
at 3:55 p.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2008, in Golden Living Center,
Mishawaka. Helen was born on February 3, 1926, in Ft. Wayne, IN,
to the late Edward and Harriet (Evard) Euphil. On
February 26, 1946, she married Jesse C. Bacon, who passed away on
March 2, 1999. She is also preceded in death by one son, Donald
Bacon; two brothers, Lamoine and Donald Miller; and three
sisters, Sylvia Lighthill, Beulah Bachmann, and
Faye Rickert. Helen is survived by one daughter, Carolyn
(Douglas) Freeman of Mishawaka; two sons, Douglas (Sharon)
Bacon of Mishawaka, Dale (LuAnn) Bacon of Osceola; and one
step-son, Wayne (Alma) Bacon of Litchfield, AZ. She is also
survived by eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Helen has been a lifelong member of Coalbush United Methodist
Church. She worked as a cashier for Hook's Drug Store and Meijer.
She volunteered many hours with School City of Mishawaka.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m.,
Sunday, August 10, 2008, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776
McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral Services will be held at 2
p.m., Monday, August 11, 2008, in Coalbush United Methodist
Church, 15977 Jackson Road, Mishawaka, with one hour of
visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow in Chapel
Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. In lieu of flowers, the family
request that memorial donations be made to the Center for Hospice
and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Ct., South Bend, IN 46637 or
to the American
Heart Association,
