Eric A. Baca, MD, 44, of Longford Drive, Granger, Ind., died at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Ind. Eric was the Medical Director of the Center for Occupational Health at Memorial Hospital. He was born on Nov. 14, 1955, in Albuquerque, N.M., and had lived in South Bend since 1990.

In Chicago, Ill., Eric married Joan Okoniewski, who survives along with his parents, Eric and Jessica (Montoya) Baca of Albuquerque; two daughters, Francesca and Carla at home; two sisters, Alexia (Tim) Morgan of California and Claudia (Wyatt) Moore of Albuquerque; three nieces, Shannon Moore, Leanna Archuleta-Guzio and Marja Morgan; a nephew John Morgan, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister, Carla Baca.

Eric was a graduate of University of New Mexico School of Medicine and served his internship at the University of New Mexico Hospital and the American Veterans Hospital - Albuquerque. He served his residency at Northwestern University-Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 6, in St. Pius X Catholic Church, Granger. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, in the HICKEY Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
