SOUTH BEND - Vernon Roy Babcock, 75,
of Brookmeade, Wilmington, Del., formerly of South Bend and
Culver, died Thursday in St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington. Mr.
Babcock was manager of Computer Development at Bendix Corp.,
South Bend, for several years. He was born Aug. 6, 1918, in
Culver.
He married Mary Ellen Dowling. She
died in 1988. Surviving are a son, Jeffery J. of Wilmington; two
sisters, Nancy M. Clements of South Bend and Shirley Ann
Chapin of Grosse Point, Mich.; and a brother, Robert J. of South
Bend. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of
American Association of Retired Persons, National Association of
Chiefs of Police, and a charter member of Data Processing
Management Association, South Bend. He received degrees from
University of Notre Dame, Ohio State University, Rockhurst
College Kansas City, University of Utah, and Weber State College.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. June 17
in Mountain View Memorial Estates, Utah. Wilmington Commemorative
Corleto-Latina Funeral Home, Wilmington, is in charge of
