Charles Henry Aviles

Charles Henry Aviles, 44, residing on
West Washington, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 9:25 a.m.
Tuesday, Feb. 26, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center,
South Bend. He was owner and operator of Advanced Surface
Technologies, and was presently a subcontractor for KLA Tencor.
Charles was born July 25, 1957, in Bronx, N.Y., to Rafael Aviles
and Martha (Bearga) Bueno, and had lived in the
South Bend community since 1990, coming from New Hampshire.
Charles is survived by his son, Adam Aviles, and his daughter,
Kelli Aviles, both of Plainwell, Mich.; his fiance, Vicki Hartzell
of Mishawaka, Ind.; his mother and stepfather, Martha and Ruben
Bueno of Long Beach, Miss.; his father, Rafael Aviles of
Greenwood Lake, N.Y.; three sisters, Mindy Aviles of New York
City, N.Y., Mariana Bueno of Long Beach and Ruthlinda Ocevedo
of Hillsboro, N.H.; three brothers, Rafael Aviles of
Greenwood Lake, Michael Nelson of East Boston, Mass., and
Steve Bueno of Gulfport, Miss.; and by eight nieces and nephews.
Charles is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served eight years
as a first class petty officer on a sub tender and other vessels.
Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m.
today, March 1, in the Palmer Funeral Homes, 2528 Mishawaka
Avenue, South Bend. Rev. Terry Fisher, pastor of St. Anthony
dePadua Catholic Church, South Bend, will officiate. The family
will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m. today in the funeral home
prior to services. Contributions in memory of Charles H. Aviles
may be made to the Lupus Foundation, P.O. Box 3900, South Bend,
IN 46619; or to the charity of the donor's choice.
