Francis B. Avery, 86, of West
Catalpa, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday,
Feb. 12, in Saint Joseph Hospital, Mishawaka. He was born on
April 28, 1916, in South Bend, Ind., to Ross and Ruth (Hickey)
Avery, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death
by two sisters and a brother.
On June 21, 1947, in South Bend, he married
Hildegarde B. Walker, who survives him. He is also
survived by three brothers, John Avery of Osceola, Ind., Richard
Avery of Bradenton, Fla., and Joseph Avery of Granger, Ind.; and
by a sister, Arlene Avery of Fort Wayne, Ind. Francis was the
past president of St. Mary Polish National Catholic Church Board,
and was a past commander of North Liberty VFW #1954 in North
Liberty, Ind. He was also a member of VFW Post 360. He retired in
1978 after 30 years with Bendix as an inspector.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday,
Feb. 16, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 17, in St.
Mary Polish National Catholic Church. Prayer service will be at
6:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Entombment will be at
Riverview Cemetery, South Bend.
