Richard Earl Atkison

MISHAWAKA - Richard Earl Atkison, 80, of 431 N. Byrkit Ave., died at 7:17 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend.

Mr. Atkison retired in 1976 from Wheelabrator-Frye Corp. as a chief inspector.

He was born June 18, 1914, in LaGrange and lived in Mishawaka since 1941.

On July 3, 1941, in Columbia City, Ind., he married Thelma Irene Slack. She survives with two sons, Roy A. and Gary R., both of Mishawaka; and six grandchildren. He was a member of East United Methodist Church.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Frurip-May Funeral Home, LaGrange. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, LaGrange. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung Association or American Heart Association.
