Guido Joseph Artusi, 88, of Bremen Hwy, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 6:57 a.m., Thursday Feb. 26, in Millers Merry Manor, Wakarusa, Ind.
Guido was born on Dec. 24, 1915 in Logansport, Ind., as the son of the late Leo and Adele (Conti) Artusi. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Rene, Edward, Libero "Lab" and Ray "Pie".
On Feb. 27, 1940, in South Bend, Ind., he married the former Dorothy Hauger, who survives along with two daughters, Susanna (Tony) Bowen of South Bend and Penelope (David) Hanna of Spring Creek, W. Va.; three grandchildren, Michele Friedman, Tony (Kim) Wilson and Tom (Pam) Wilson; 11 great-grandchildren, Ralph Mc Coy, Daniele (Jeremy) Dallman, Paul Lehner, Robby Lehner, Kristin Lehner, Marty Friedman, Aaron Wilson, Brandon Wilson, Heidi Eakins, Chad Eakins and Shelby Meersman; one great great-grandchild, Maya Dallman; and three sisters, Ann Young, Alice Mc Crea and Louisa Miller.
Guido lived in Mishawaka from 1940 to 1972, where he worked for St. Mary's College for 15 years. He then moved to Rochester, Ind. in 1972 where he opened and ran, Guido's Restaurant for eight years before returning to the area to Mishawaka in 1980. He was a member of VFW in Rochester, De Amicis Club, Italian American Club, Eagles, Diloreto Society and the American Legion. Guido was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was a fun loving man who enjoyed life and could always bring a smile to your face. Guido loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 29, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 1, in the funeral home with Rev. Richard Dunn officiating.
Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
