Sister M. Cyrilla CSC, 78, of St. Mary’s Convent died early this morning in St. Joseph Hospital in South Bend after a brief illness. Born Gertrude Agnes Arnold on Feb. 1, 1898 in Fort Wayne, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s on July 25, 1928. She was received as a novice on Aug. 15, 1919 and made her profession of vows on Aug. 15, 1921. An elementary school teacher during her community life, she has taught at South Bend’s Assumption School and in Logansport, Utah, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Texas and Virginia. She returned to the convent to reside in 1969.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Loretto Church, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus. Friends may call Friday and Saturday in the convent parlors where a wake service will be at 7 p.m. Friday.
