Mary L. Arndt, 65, residing on E. Dayton Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. She was born on August 1, 1936, in Jasonville, Ind., as the daughter of Hershel and Gertrude (Bone) Rogers.
On October 24, 1973, in Niles, Mich., she married Walter J. Arndt, who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Penni (Chuck) Arndt, Patti (John) Warren and Paula McKaskle, all of South Bend, and Peggi Marquez of Mishawaka; four sons, Walter (Susan) Singleton, Keith (Deb) Singleton and Joe (Sherry) Singleton, all of South Bend and John (Toni) Singleton of Osceola; 26 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lorraine Quebedeau of South Bend; and five brothers, Orville Rogers of Arizona, David Rogers of Chicago, Bill Rogers and Church Rogers, both of South bend and Roy Rogers of Walkerton.
Mary was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Singleton in 1967; a great-grandchild, Codey Singleton in 1999 and a brother, Wayne Rogers in 1967.
Mary loved going to bingo at FOP #36. She also loved gardening and birds and raised cockatiels. Mary was a member of the Northeastern Alabama Cherokee Tribe.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, June 8, at Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Rev. Don Francis will officiate. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. Friends called Friday in the funeral home.
