WALKERTON - Private services for Walter A. Armstrong Sr., 87, of 221 Caroline Drive, Wlakerton, who died at 6:20 p.m. Wednesday in his home, were today at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte. Cremation will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurses Association.

Mr. Armstrong was a former die setter. He was born July 16, 1908, in Morocco, Ind. On March 14, 1935, he married Malinda Hirsch. She died in 1995.

Surviving are three daughters, Monsetta G. Knip of Wheatfield, Ind., Linda Ploehn of Hartwell, Ga., and Sandra Kay Winter of LaPorte; two sons, Walter W. Jr. of Walkerton and Rex A. of Virginia Beach, Va.; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. A grandson preceded him in death.
