SOUTH BEND -- Velma S. Armstrong, 88, of Ireland, Ind., formerly of Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, died at 7:30 a.m. Sunday in the home of her daughter in South Bend.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Sweeney of South Bend and Phyllis Thornbury of Fort Smith, Ark.; a sister, Leona Walters of Hendersonville, Tenn.; and two brothers, Lee and Pete Himsel, both of Danville, Ind.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Trinity United Church of Christ in Jasper. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today and from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday in Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
