Dean H. Armey, 82, residing on Orkney Court, South Bend, passed away Saturday, at his home, from natural causes.
Dean retired, in 1978, from the South Bend Lathe Co. after 20 years as a tool and die maker. Prior to this, he was employed at Oliver's, South Bend Tool and Die, and Curtis Wright.
He was born on Aug. 27, 1913 in North Manchester, Ind. to the late Charles and Clara (Brookstool) Armey. Dean had lived in the South Bend area since 1942, coming from Warsaw, Ind. On Dec. 21, 1935, in Valparaiso, Ind., he married Mabel M. Alderfer, who passed away in February of 1987.
Surviving is a son, Terry Armey of Hillsdale, Mich.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five brothers, Charles Armey of Mishawaka, Ind., Jack Armey of Bradenton, Fla., Theodore Armey, Merle Armey, and Dale Armey, all of Warsaw, Ind. A daughter, Sharron Peyla, preceded her father in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, at the Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Entombment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, at the Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home.
Dean was a member of the Council Oak Lodge 745, F&AM. Memorial contributions may be given to the donor's choice.
