Irene J. Arelt
Feb. 5, 1922 - April 5, 2001
Irene J. Arelt, 79, of Roxebury Plaza, South Bend, died at 11:55 a.m., Thursday in Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 5, 1922, in South Bend and was the daughter of Charles and Veronica Pawelski. Mrs. Arelt retired from Automatic Molded Plastic.
On April 7, 1945, as Irene Pawelski, she married Stephen Arelt who preceded her in death on May 8, 1987. Also preceding her in death was a brother, Harry Pawelski. She is survived by a daughter, Linda Geyer and son-in-law, Robert Geyer, both of South Bend; and a brother, Edwin Powell of California.
Family and friends may call from noon until 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 9, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with burial to follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery.
Mrs. Arelt was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. She was also a former CCD teacher at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
