Frank Arelt

March 17, 1897 – June 10, 1985

Frank Arelt, 88, of 506 S. Liberty St., died at 6:05am today in St Joseph’s Medical Center.  He retired in 1963 from the Studebaker Crop after 48 years service with the company.

Born March 17, 1897, in Poland, he lived in the South Bend area for 72 years, coming here from Poland.  In 1926, he married Clara Patulski, who preceded him in death in 1955.

He is survived by five daughters, Edwardine Kalicki, Irene Smith and Virginia Werwas, all of South Bend, Esther Hilarides of Roseville MI and Eileen Dowd o f Sterling Heights MI; two sons, Dan and Edwin both of Mishawaka; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

Services will be at 11am Wednesday in St Adalbert’s Catholic Church and burial will follow in St Joseph Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 9pm in the St Joseph Funeral Home where a parish rosary will be recited at 7:30pm Tuesday night.  On May 31, Mr. Arelt received a 10-year award for his volunteer work with REAL services.
