Daniel K. Arelt
Aug. 6, 1928 -- Sept. 18, 2003
Daniel K. Arelt, age 75, formerly of South Bend, Ind., passed away on Thursday, Sept. 18, in Retama Manor Nursing Home in Harlingen, Texas. His wife and daughter were at his bedside at the time of his death. He was a beloved Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa.
Daniel was born Aug. 6, 1928, in South Bend, to Frank and Clara (Patulski) Arelt, who preceded him in death. Also preceding in death is one son, Michael J. Donovan.
On Aug. 27, 1980, in South Carolina, Daniel married Dorothy Gresk, who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Patricia (Miles) Noffsinger of South Bend; five sisters, Edwardine Kalicki of South Bend, Irene Smith of South Bend, Virginia Werwas of South Bend, Esther Hilarides of Roseville, Mich., and Eileen Dowd of Sterling Heights, Mich.; one brother, Edwin Arelt of Mishawaka, Ind.; four grandchildren, Tina (Donald) O'Brien of South Bend, Harold (Kathy) Noffsinger of Marion, Ind., Jeffrey Donovan and Dawn (James) Sterling, both of Virginia; and four great-grandchildren.
Daniel retired from the manufacturing industry where he was a spray painter after 21 years of service. He worked at Studebaker and A.M. General. He was a member of the AARP, Presbyterian Players, Good Samaritan Club, the Parkinson Support Group and Little Flower Catholic Church.
Daniel was loved and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the Retama Manor Nursing Home.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 22, in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 1827 E. Ireland Road, South Bend, and also one hour prior to services. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, in Little Flower Catholic Church, where Father Andre Leveille, C.S.C., will offer a mass of Christian burial. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.
ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Road, will be taking care of arrangements.
