South Bend - Richard F. Archer, 57, of 1244 E. Madison Street, co-owner of A & K Food Distributors died at 11:10 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Hospital. He had been ill seven months. He was born April 19, 1900 in Chicago and had lived here for 49 years, coming from Chicago.

On Nov. 25, 1919, in Mishawaka, he married Edith Pecher, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Capt. Richard F. Archer Jr., stationed with the US Army in Tacoma, Wash.; four grandchildren, and a brother Harry L. Archer of Stamford, Conn. Friends may call in the Hickey Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 8:15 p.m. today. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Catholic Church and burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
