R. Keith Andrews, 70, of E. Donald Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 3:55 a.m. Sunday, March 23, in Hospice House of St. Joseph County of natural causes. Mr. Andrews was born Jan. 3, 1933, in South Bend to Cecil G. and Lulu Mae (Smith) Andrews. They preceded him in death.
Surviving are his children, Amy Andrews of Prior Lake, Minn., Brian Andrews and Sharon Andrews, both of Burnsville, Minn., as well as a sister, Sandra Gawenda and her husband Gerald of Osceola, Ind. Also surviving are six grandchildren, JoAnna Andrews, Michael Berding, Brandon Andrews, Tyler Andrews, Josh Freuendienst, and Sierra Andrews; along with a nephew, Kirk Obren and his wife Cathy, and Deborah Obren. Surviving as well are his companion, Dona Stout of South Bend, and a close friend, Larry Swanson of Woodland, Ind.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Pastor Ed Erskine will officiate services at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola. Memorial donations in his name may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. Andrews graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1950 and was enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He sailed on the USS Charles J. Badger during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1960. He delivered vans and R.V's for many companies until his retirement in 1994. Memberships include the Harris Prairie Church of Christ, Granger, the Mishawaka High School Alumni Association, the John Deere 2 Cylinder Club, and the Good Sam Camping Club, Blueberry Sam Chapter.
