SOUTH BEND - Richard Paul Andrews, a lifelong resident of South
Bend, passed away at 8:32 a.m. Saturday, February 20, 2010, in
the Ironwood Health & Rehabilitation Center, South Bend. He
was 86 years old. Richard was born May 18, 1923, in St. Joseph
County, a son of Harley Oscar and Nellie (McNamee) Andrews. He
proudly served his country in the United States Army during WW
II. He was a longtime member of Apostolic Temple, South Bend. He
was united in marriage to Evelyn Luczkowski in South Bend. To
this union they had a daughter, Caroline. Then on January 13,
1979, at Apostolic Temple, he was married to Viola Boles, who
preceded him in death on January 19, 1996. He was also preceded
by a sister, Winifred Madlem; and eight brothers, Chuck, Harley,
George, Bill, Bob, John, Norman and Lloyd Andrews; his parents;
and stepmother, Myrtle Viola Place Andrews. Mr. Andrews is
survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Caroline and Don
Mitchell of Edwardsburg, MI; two grandchildren, Colin (June)
Mitchell of Kennett Square, PA, Kristin (Dan) DesRosiers of
Decatur, MI; five great-grandchildren, Brayden and Benjamin
DesRosiers, and Chloe, Renee and Olivia Mitchell. Also surviving
Richard are two sisters, Gloria (Dale) Gaut of Florida, Margaret
Andrews of South Bend; and three brothers, Russell Andrews of
Elkhart, IN, Byron Andrews of Fort Collins, CO, and Walter
Andrews of Knox, IN. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday,
February 25, in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528
Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Rev. Paul Rowe of Apostolic Temple
will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at
Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, IN. The family will
receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Palmer
Funeral Home-River Park. Contributions in memory of Mr. Andrews
