29, 1934 - May 3, 2010SOUTH BEND - Robert Andert, 75, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2010, in Memorial Hospital. Bob was born on November 29, 1934, in South Bend, to the late John and Neta (Cook) Andert. On May 20, 1961, Bob married Betty (Voorde) in the Cathedral of St. Matthew. He is survived by his wife Betty of South Bend; daughters, Jennifer (Joe) Yaciw of South Bend, Lynne Marie Andert of South Bend and Cheryl (Jeff) Celie of Mishawaka; his sister, Rosemary Nyerges of Granger; brother, John Andert of Lakeville; three grandchildren, Jordan and Olivia Yaciw, and Faith Andert, all of South Bend. Bob worked as an electrician and was a member of IBEW Local 153 and Knights of Columbus Council #5521 Fourth Degree. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a longstanding parishioner and usher at the Cathedral of St. Matthew. Bob loved gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. Family and friends may gather at 10:00 a.m. today, May 6, 2010, in the Cathedral of St. Matthew, where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:30 a.m., with Rev. Msgr. Michael Heintz presiding. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family has requested donations be to St. Matthew Cathedral, 1701 Miami St., South Bend, IN 46613.
