Menzie L. ''Andy'' Anderson, 78, of
the Ironwood Health & Rehabilitation Center, formerly of
North Main Street, Mishawaka, Ind., died on Wednesday, March 4,
at the center. He was born on June 29, 1919, in Stewartville,
Ind., and had lived in this area since 1937. His parents, Menzie
and Ina (Kincheloe) Anderson, preceded him in death. He was
married in 1939 to Geraldine Workman, who preceded him in
death in 1967. He was also preceded in death by his son, Eugene
Anderson of South Carolina in 1997.
He married Virginia Graybosch on May
25, 1968, in South Bend. She survives. He is also survived by a
son, James of California; three stepsons, Jerry Graybosch of
Elgin, Ill., Alan Graybosch of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Bob
Graybosch of Lake Villa, Ill.; two sisters, Elsie Russell
of Evansville and Muriel Harrison of Lawrenceburg, Ind.; a
brother, Doyle Anderson of South Bend; and by nine grandchildren
and a great-grandson.
Andy worked at Hawthorne Melody Dairy as a
milkman and later as credit manager until the dairy closed. He
then worked at Photo Tech Labs in Mishawaka and retired from
there in 1988.
Andy loved to write and was working on a
book about his hometown of Stewartsville. He also wrote many
poems and short stories.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m.
on Saturday in the Harris Prairie Church of Christ where he was a
member, with Dan Crosley officiating. Memorial contributions may
be made to the church.
The Bubb Funeral Chapel North is handling
arrangements and cremation. Andy was a kind and loving man who
will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
