SOUTH BEND - Kenneth L. Anderson, 89,
of South 32nd Street, died at 8:20 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary
Community Hospital. Mr. Anderson retired from Studebaker Corp. in
1968, after more than 40 years of service. He was born May 8,
1906, in Whitley County and lived in South Bend most of his life.
On Aug. 14, 1926, in South Bend, he married
Fay Hupp. She died in 1987. On June 25, 1988, in South
Bend, he married Mary Gaby, who survives. Also surviving
are a daughter, Marjorie Overpeck of Mishawaka; two sons,
Jack L. of Birmingham, Ala., and Jay W. of Mishawaka; two
stepdaughters, Pat Dean and Carol Dudeck, both of
South Bend; two stepsons, Robert Gaby of South Bend and
Chuck Gaby of Granger; six grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren;
nine great-grandchildren; 20 step-great-grandchildren; and two
great-great-grandchildren. A step-great-granddaughter preceded
him in death. He was a member of United Auto Workers Local 5 and
Milburn Boulevard Church of Christ.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in
Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawak. Burial will be in
Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 5 to
9 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be
made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc. or Compassionate
Friends.
