Joe H. Anderson, 58, of South Bend, Ind., passed away at 10:14 a.m. Tuesday, December 25, 2001, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. Mr. Anderson was born on January 6, 1943, in Bristol, Va. He had lived in South Bend since 1956, coming from Bristol, Va. He was the owner of Anderson's Backhoe Service. Survivors include his mother, Irene J. Anderson of New Carlisle, Ind.; two sons, Randal J. (Monica) Anderson of South Bend, IN, Richard D. (Angeliek) Anderson of South Bend, In; three grandchildren, David, Kurt, Brady; six sisters, Denese J. (Richard) Freestone of Rolling Prairie, Ind., Patricia L. (Ralph) Messenger of Lubbock, Texas, Diane S. Brown of South Bend, Ind., Agnes C. Anderson and her husband, Bill Martine of Denver, Colo., Jill M. (Bubba) Chadwell of Mishawaka, Ind., Jennie L. (Bob) Stevens of South Bend; and five brothers, Lester W. (Zita) Anderson of Osceola, Ind., Gary W. (Vickie) Anderson of South B end, Michael D. (Debbie) Anderson of Rolling Prairie, David L. (Lois) Anderson of Dearborn, Mich., and Jeffrey R. (Paula) Anderson of South Bend. He was preceded in death by his father, William C. Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. E.S.T. Saturday, December 29, 2001, in the New Carlisle United Methodist Church, 300 Compton Street, New Carlisle, IN. Burial will follow in New Carlisle Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. E.S.T. today in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 201 S. Filbert Street, New Carlisle, IN, and for one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Mr. Anderson was a member of the Local #150 Operating Engineers, Sons of the American Legion Post #284, and was a former coach at Northwest Little League.
