Davis C. "Dave" Anderson,
82, of East Jefferson Rd., Osceola, died Friday evening in Saint
Joseph Community Hospital. He was born in Marmaduke, Ark., on
March 8, 1919 to William C. and Daisy E. (Buckles)
Anderson. Dave was preceded in death by his parents and a
brother, R.N. "Butch" Anderson who died in 1983. Dave
was a World War II veteran, serving in North Africa and Italy,
where he was injured and decorated. He retired in 1984 from the
Mishawaka Public Library as head custodian after 23 years of
service. Dave was a lifetime member of VFW Post #360, a member of
American Legion Post #161, and USA Fitness Center.
He married the former, Hazel LaRue, on
December 8, 1945, in Schoolfield, Va. Surviving along with his
wife, Hazel of 55 years, is a daughter, Lynda (Rusty) Nelson
of Los Gatos, Calif.; a son, Davis L. Anderson of Osceola; three
grandchildren, Anthony Anderson, Sweyn and Noel Nelson; a
great-grandchild, Cayla Anderson; and a brother, Bill (Thelma)
Anderson of Mishawaka. Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography
and traveling with his wife. He was a loving husband, dad,
brother, granddad and great-granddad. He was the love of Hazel's
life and her best friend for over 60 years.
Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. today,
November 5 in Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral
home with Rev. Brian Beeks officiating, pastor of Osceola United
Methodist Church, of which Dave was a member.
Military services will be conducted at the
cemetery by the burial team of VFW Post #360 and American Legion
Post #161. Memorial contributions may be made to Osceola United
Methodist Church or the Food Bank of Northern Indiana, 702 Chapin
St., South Bend, Indiana 46601.
