Agda Marie Anderson, 92, formerly of
Fairington Apartments and East Donald St., South Bend, Ind.,
passed away at 12 p.m. on Sunday, May 9, in Regency Place, South
Bend. Agda was born on Aug. 7, 1906, in Varmland, Sweden, to Anna
and Axel Jernstrom. She came to the United States with her
parents and two brothers in 1910 on the ship, Oscar II, landing
at Ellis Island, NY.
On Dec. 18, 1937, in Covenant Church, South
Bend, she married Karl Einar Anderson, who died on Sept. 1, 1975.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Sven, Conrad
and Harry.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann
(Joseph) Sorocco of South Bend; a son, Louis H. (Sue) Anderson
of Des Moines, Iowa; five grandchildren, Douglas J. Sorocco of
Guthrie, Okla., Leslie M. Sorocco of South Bend, Louis A.
Anderson and Jeffrey S. Anderson of West Des Moines, Iowa, and
Kandi S. Wood of Brentwood, Tenn.; and by four
great-grandchildren, Courtney, Zachary, Christina and Jenna.
Agda worked for the Indiana and Michigan
Electric Company for 15 years. She was a member of Gloria Dei
Lutheran Church, Independent Order of Vikings John Ericson Lodge
#51, Ladies of Vikings, and Bendix Local 9 Retirees.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today in
the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 1827 E. Ireland Road., South Bend,
and one hour prior to services Wednesday in the church. Services
will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church
with Rev. Denise Grant officiating. Burial will be at Riverview
Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Gloria Dei
Lutheran Church, 225 Haney St., South Bend, IN 46613.
