MISHAWAKA -- Surrounded by his loving
family, Edwin E. "Ed" Amberg, 66, passed away
after a courageous battle with cancer. Ed was born in South Bend,
IN, the son of Carl and Marie (De Meyer) Amberg, who both
preceded him in death in 1999.
After graduating from Central High School in
1959. He served in the National Guard and married Janet (Teyema)
Amberg in January 1967. After having two children, Laura and Jon,
he spent his career in sales with Redi-Froz, Sysco and Stanz Food

whom he enjoyed life until his death. He was a member of Gloria
Dei Lutheran Church.
Ed loved sports, especially Notre Dame
football where he ushered games and retired after 25 years,
earning him a prestigious gold card. To Ed, nothing was better
than watching his children or grandchildren play a game, and most
recently he was delighted to see his grandson's championship
baseball game. Ed talked sports to everyone he knew and loved
getting the inside gossip from the Teegarden coaches (Phil and
Dennis) at Elkhart's Memorial High School. Ed enjoyed golfing,
walleye fishing, snowmobiling, downhill skiing and a host of
other activities. He loved to be active and was always doing some
type of home project or working in the yard. He was a member of
the National Ski Patrol for many, many years, teaching both his
children to ski and instilled that downhill passion in them. He
was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Marie (DeMeyer)
Amberg, and by his brother, Don Amberg.
