Carl F. Amberg, 89, of Helman Street,
South Bend, Ind., passed away of natural causes on Sunday, Sept.
26, in the Regency Place Nursing Home, South Bend. Mr. Amberg was
born on April 29, 1910, to August and Ceralia (Carlson)
Amberg in Iron Mountain, Mich.
On April 16, 1934, he married Marie J. DeMeyer
in South Bend. Marie passed away in June of this year. He was
also preceded in death by a brother, Gunnard Amberg; and by five
sisters, Thyra Conard, Selma Cronkhite, Eva Amber,
Edith Christianson and Ruth Uski. He is survived by
two sons, Donald Amberg and his wife, Eleanor of South Bend, and
Edwin Amberg and his wife, Kay of Mishawaka, Ind.; six
grandchildren, Pat and Kim Higgins, Michael Amberg,
Derrick Amberg, Barry and Donette Amberg, Laura and Randy Turley,
and Jon Amberg; and by 14 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Amberg was employed by the Bendix
Corporation for 35 years until his retirement in 1972. He was a
member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, the Eagles Lodge #435,
South Bend, and Bendix Union Local #9. Mr. Amberg was also
involved with the Good Sam's Camping Club, Indiana State Campers,
retirees chapter of NCHA, and the Donnell Lake Association.
Visitation was held on Monday in the Chapel
Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, and will continue from one hour
before services at 11 a.m. today in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church,
South Bend. Pastor Denise Grant will officiate. Entombment will
follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Memorial
donations may be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 225 E. Haney
Avenue, South Bend, IN 46613; or to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
