MISHAWAKA - Grace M. Alwine, 81, of
Pheasant Run, died after an illness at 5:01 p.m. Tuesday in St.
Joseph Community Hospital. Mrs. Alwine was employed by Uniroyal
Plastics Inc. for 30 years and retired in 1978 from Gerber
Manufacturing Co. after five years of service. She was born May
4, 1915, in De Valls Bluff, Ark., and lived in Mishawaka most of
her life.
On Jan. 29, 1949, in South Bend, as Grace M.
Hurst, she married Robert M. Alwine. He survives with two
daughters, Beverly A. VonHolt of Palmetto, Fla., and
Cynthia L. Freeman of South Bend; two sons, Larry L. and
Ted G., both of South Bend; 12 grandchildren; six
great-grandchildren; and a sister, Wanda F. Croy of
Mishawaka. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 360
Auxiliary.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Bubb
Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St. Burial will be in Fairview
Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the
funeral home.
