SOUTH BEND - John Mitchell Algee, 79, of Largo, Fla., formerly of South Bend, died after an illness Tuesday in his home.

Mr. Algee retired from Studebaker Corp. and South Bend Window Cleaning. He was born March 24, 1917, in Milan, Tenn. His first wife, Ann M. Algee, died Dec. 30, 1977. On March 15, 1981, in Largo, Fla., he married Margaret Wigfall. She survives with a daughter, Shirley A. Loyd of South Bend; three sons, Michael Hamilton of Largo, Victor Hillman of Kalamazoo and Melvin Hillman of South Bend; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Julia Smith of South Bend, Zula Pritchard of Chicago and Katherine Reynolds of Cleveland; a foster sister, Helen Barham of South Bend; and a brother, Joe of Country Club Hills, Ill.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Bethany CME Church, Clearwater, Fla. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in Youngs Funeral Home, Clearwater.
