Chesterton resident Lawrence Dallas Alexander, 68, died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at his home.
He was born Dec. 16, 1935, in East Chicago, the son of Dwight George and Marjorie (Collins) Alexander, who preceded him in death.
On Aug. 15, 1992, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chesterton, he married Jean M. Boi, who survives in Chesterton.
He is also survived by 11 children, Wendlyn Jackson, Kimberly Beattie, Brenda (husband Tommie) Bowling, Debrah Staff, John (wife Dawn) Staff, and Christopher Staff, all of Chesterton, Seanna (husband Paul) Scheibelhut of Mishawaka, Rhonda Alexander of Mill City, Ore., Darrin Alexander of Phoenix, Ariz., Angelina (husband Timothy) Stover of Valparaiso, and Pamela Staff of Hobart; 22 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six siblings, George Duane Alexander of Madisonville, Ky., Ardith Stevens of Thayer, Ind., Ronald Alexander and Phillip Alexander, both of Wheatfield, and Robert Garrison and Myrna (husband Charlie) Jefferson, all of DeMotte; and by his fellow musicians.
Mr. Alexander was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and worked as an electrician at Bethlehem Steel Company until his retirement after 30 years of service. He was a realtor with Coldwell Banker in Chesterton and an avid guitarist who was a member of many local bands.
Funeral services, Pastor Erich R. Fickel officiating, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 106 E. C.R. 1100N in Chesterton. He will be interred at Chesterton Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 S. Second St. in Chesterton, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
