SOUTH BEND - Ellen L. Albert, 86, of South Bend, IN,
passed away Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, in the Hospice House of St.
Joseph County. Ellen was born March 20, 1920, in Chicago, IL, to
Joseph E. and Myrtle L. (Davis) Schang. She is
survived by a daughter, Margery (James) Walz of South
Bend; two sons, Daniel Albert of Granger, IN, and Kevin (Mary Jo)
Albert of Rochester, NY; a daughter-in-law, Linda Albert of
Granger; eight grandchildren, Erika (Jeff) Joo of
Mishawaka, Jessica Walz of South Bend, Christine Albert of
Rochester, NY, Jeffrey (Ashley) Albert of Ruston, LA, Tae (Andy) Smith
of Rochester, NY, Roan (Bianca) Ciardi of Phoenix,
Victoria (Brian) Troester of Granger and Joseph (Susan)
Albert of Indianapolis; and 11 great- grandchildren.
Ellen flew Aeronca and Taylor craft during World War II. She worked at the South Bend police station for 19 years and the South Bend Community Schools for a number of years.
Friends are calling today, Jan 24, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the McGann Hay, Forest G. Hay Chapel, 435 S. Ironwood, South Bend, IN. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m. in Grace United Methodist Church, 3012 S. Twyckenham Drive, South Bend, IN. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery.
