Martha L. Airgood, 95, of North 29th Street, South Bend, died at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, November 13, in the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care. Martha was born November 12, 1910, in Mishawaka, Indiana, to the late Edward and Hilbra Castello.

On June 12, 1937, Martha married Edward Charles Airgood, who died on April 3, 1973. Martha was also preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Castello; a niece, Donnamae Schmidt; and two nephews, Donald and Joseph D. Castello. Martha is survived by her daughter, Patricia (George) Roberts of South Bend; two nieces, Barbara Castello of Niles, Mich., and Laverne Castello of Bristol, Ind.; a nephew, Raymond Schmidt of South Bend; 16 great-nieces and nephews, and 17 great-great-nieces and nephews.

She had been a member of Little Flower Catholic Church for 55 years. Martha had many friends, loved her family, and loved receiving hugs from all who knew her. Martha was always happy and smiling. She loved God and her church, and loved to collect angels.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 16, in Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 N. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, with Rev. Andre Leveille, C.S.C., officiating. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. today in Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend, Ind., and from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in Little Flower Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. today in the funeral home. In Martha's memory, contributions may be made to Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 N. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, IN 46635; or to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
