SOUTH BEND – Mrs. Mary Aftowski, 81, of 1223 W. Napier Street, died at 6:40 p.m. Friday in the River Park Nursing Home after an extended illness. She was born Jan. 21, 1891 in South Bend and lived here all her life.

As Mary Rybak on June 14, 1909, she was married  to Joseph Aftowski, who died I=on Jan. 24, 1961. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Lyczynski, Mrs. Esther Paskiet and Mrs Florence Hudnall, all of South Bend; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Casimir and Edward Rybak, and a sister, Mrs. Alice Paznan, all of South Bend.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 5 and 7 to 0 p.m. Monday in the Kaniewski and Sons Funeral Home. Services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church with Rev. Casimir F. Garbarz CSC, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
