Retha Ann Addington, 76, of West 7th Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 10 p.m. Tuesday in the home of her daughter, Frenda Gulick of Galien, Mich. Mrs. Addington was born June 22, 1927, in Jenkins, Ky., to the late Noah C. and Sarah Ann (Mullins) Greer.
On March 9, 1946 in Cromonia, Ky., she married John B. Addington, who died July 9, 2000. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Aretta Mullins, and three brothers, Oakie, Golff and Harold Greer. Mrs. Addington is survived by four daughters, Frenda (Charles) Gulick of Galien, Mich., Dianna (Galen) Summers of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Connie (Bruce) Vyverberg of Gatlinburg, Tenn., and Krista (James) Everage of Grovertown, Ind.; two sons, Harold E. (Jeanetta) Addington of South Bend, Ind., and Gary F. (Paula) Addington of Mishawaka. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Harold (Kurta) Addington Jr., and John, David, Heather, Tina and Caleb (April) Addington, Yuno David Gulick, Adrienne Summers and Richard (Nikki) Smith; four great-grandchildren, Taylor and Bailey Smith, Hannah and Zachary Rupert.
Also surviving are three sisters, Alieen Adams of Catlettsburg, Ky., Danola Gossett of Lexington, S.C., and Carol Sue Cantrell of Jenkins, Ky.; two brothers, Bobby Ray Greer of Hartford, Ky., and Paul T. Greer of Jenkins, Ky. Retha was a homemaker who loved to cook, sew, travel and visit with family and friends. She had a warm personality and never knew a stranger. She will be missed by her family and all who knew her.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today, Feb. 27, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., South Bend. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, in the funeral home, with burial to follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at Home, P.O.
