Rev. Edward F. Abstetar CSC, 51, a former assistant pastor at
Little Flower Parish, died early today in Holy Cross House at
Notre Dame, after a lengthy illness. He was born Nov. 14, 1927 in
Sheboygan, Wis. He entered the seminary at Notre Dame in 1953 and
professed his vows of religion in 1955. He was ordained to the
priesthood in 1962 at Sacred Heart Church at Notre Dame. He
served in various parishes and schools in the Diocese of Austin,
Texas, from 1964 to 1977. Most recently he had taught and
counseled students at Notre Dame High School in Wichita Falls,
Texas, until taking a sick leave in 1977.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 3:30
p.m. Thursday at Moreau Seminary at Notre Dame, with burial
in Holy Cross Community Cemetery, on the campus. Friends may call
from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Moreau Seminary where a wake
service will be at 7:30 p.m.
