SOUTH BEND - Mrs. Kathryn J. (Quinn)
Abolt, 90, of East Angela Blvd., passed away following an
illness at 5:10 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 28, in the Hospice House.
She was born on March 23, 1908, in Mill Creek, Ind., to the late
John and Ella (Mahon) Quinn. On Sept. 7, 1931, in
LaPorte, Ind., she married William D. Abolt, who preceded her in
death in 1984. They came to South Bend, Ind., in 1933. She is
survived by their only daughter, Patricia (Daniel) Nesbitt
of Las Vegas, Nev.; her grandchildren, Karen Organ of
Saratoga, Calif., Kevin Nesbitt of Woodland, Calif., Keith
Nesbitt and Kent Nesbitt, both of San Francisco, Calif., Kristan Vicsik
of Lisle, Ill.; and by two great-granddaughters, Rebecca and
Alyssa Organ of Saratoga, Calif. Mrs. Abolt was a member of
Sacred Heart Parish, The Shoe and Slipper Club, The Assemblers,
Elk's Lodge #235 Lady's Auxiliary, the Knights of Columbus Wive's
Club, and the Christ Child Society. Kathryn was always helping
others, whether it was baking cookies for her grandchildren,
comforting the sick, or offering a prayer for those in need. She
was dedicated to the service of others at her church, at the
Christ Child Society, or for a friend or neighbor just down on
their luck.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3, at the Basilica of
the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame. Burial will
follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery on the campus. Rev. Jose Martelli,
CSC, pastor, will officiate. Friends may call from 3 to 5 and 6
to 8 p.m. today in the McGann Funeral Homes, University Area
Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Road, where there will be a parish Rosary
at 4:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to The Hospice House,
