The Michael & Mary Arnold Espich Family
Michael Espich was born to Charles
Frederick Espich and Sarah Jane Link in Ragersville,
Tuscarawas, Ohio in November of 1845. Charles married Sarah
Jane Link in Ragersville and lived there until about 1867 then
they headed to Linkville, Indiana. Family oral history opines
that many Ragersville residents were encouraged to join the
Seltonright family in Linkville, when they left to start up a
mill.
After Sarah Jane died, Charles went over to Well's county and
married a former Ohio Girl and had seven more children with
her. Charles was in the 51st OVI. Michael was in the
Mexican war in 1861 Company K, 51st, O. V. I. and had several
transfers, he was discharged June 1863 at Franklin, Tennessee
from his first enlistment, which he enrolled at 15 years of age.
He was also in G company of the 51st Jan 1862 and was discharged
from his second enlistment at Feb 12, 1864 at Murfreesboro,
Tennessee.
Michael Espich and Mary Arnold Espich (born in Nashville Onio March of 1856) were united in marriage in September of 1878 in Linkville, Marschall County IN. Michael was a farmer by profession. This union would be blessed with five children, Harry of LaPorte, Fred of Plymouth, Frank of South Bend, Mamie (Mrs Elmer Chaney) and Herbert of Plymouth. Michael will pass of stomach cancer in 1901 and Mary will follow in 1923. They rest in Fairmount and Oak Hill Cemetery respectfully
