1898 Class at Tri-State College

My maternal grandfather, Ellsworth Francis Burch (1871 Metz--1967 Rock Island, IL), is the third from the left in the next
to last row.  He was the first of the Burch clan to go to a college. He taught English and other classes for several years at 3 different
schools before settling in Rock Island, where he first taught then moved into administration.  He was essentially the Supt. of Schools
in his later years, tho it was not given that title at the time.  He and his sibs were all born on the Wm & Samantha Burch farm near Metz
and lack birth certificates. In 1930 Wm and Samantha moved to Rock Island to be near Ellsworth in their infirm years.
