May 1903 to Mr. and Mrs. James D. Light, a daughter and second
child. Mrs. Light is the daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Wm Rude, and
is known by many in and about Angola.

Pleasant Lake - Born Sunday May
17 to John Williams and wife a son. Carl Galer of Fort Wayne
spent Sunday with his grandma Mrs. O. M. Gilbert. Mrs. Lida
Morris and son of Libby, Montana are visiting her sister, Mrs.
Wells. The twentieth annual commencement exercises of Pleasant
Lake High School were held at the U. B. Church last Friday
evening. Diplomas were presented by trustee Harpham to Misses
Dessa George, Gertrude Ransburg, Cleo Hamlin, May Hoagland, Janie Hale,
Bertha Pember and Floyd Leasure.
Jamestown - Mrs. Della Waiters
and daughter of Wisconsin are visiting her parents Mrs. and Mrs. G. W.
Baker. Mrs. Mia Lemmon is staying with her daughter Mrs. Frank
Harbaugh who is having chills and fever. Jamestown Primary
Department of School for the month ending May 14, 1903: enrollment 32,
average attendance 30. Those not missing a day are Bertha
Williams, Bertha Dygert, Vern McKem, Howard McClue, Carrie, Eva and
Winnie Dawes, Una Lemmon, Doin Barry, Hermie Straw, Burdette and Cecil
Robbins, George King, Sadie Hobson, Eiva Darr, Merritt Hawkins.
Those not missing during the year are Doin Barry, Eva Dawes and Una
Lemmon. Lillian Morse, teacher.
Local and Personal - Mrs. J. A.
Woodhull has gone to Warren, Ohio to visit her daughter Georgia Bates
and family. Orlo Arnold and Miss Elga Coleman, both of Pleasant
View, this county, were married last Sunday, May 17. Louis
Scholze of Fort Wayne came to Angola Sunday on his automobile to visit
his sister Mrs. S. W. Headley, making the distance in 3 and 1/2 hours.
Page - Mrs. James Day visited
over Sunday with her son Ora at Ellis. Born to Clyde Henney and
wife, May 14, a daughter and first child.
Pleasant View - Born Sunday May
17, 1903 to Bert Coe and wife, a son and second child. Ira
Bowerman and family visited their Uncle Leonard Corbett of Salem,
Sunday. Men gathered at the home of E. J. Doudt Saturday
afternoon to raise the barn but did not complete it until Monday.
Nettle Lake - Charles Moss and
family visited his mother Mrs. Louisa Moss here Sunday.
Helmer - John Tritch bought a
buggy of A. S. Billman, Monday.
Salem Center - Isaac Morrison
is making an extended visit with his son Erve, east of Angola.
Miss Inez Raub of Garrett, visited last Saturday and Sunday with her
sister Mrs. Grace DeWitt and other relatives. Fred Komp and Miss
Pearl Bodley were married Sunday May 10, 1903, at the home of the
groom’s parents, the groom’s father officiating. They will live
in Helmer.
Hudson - Married Sunday May
17,1903 at Hamilton, Miss Nannie Sewell and Mr. Frank Oberlin, of this
place. They’re many friends with them prosperity and happiness
through life.
York - Henry Cox and wife of
Edon spent Sunday with his father John Cox. John Hall’s people
attended the funeral of his son-in-law James Paul last Saturday of Ray.
Gage - Mrs. George Rowley
visited her mother Mrs. L. A. Hastings last Sunday. George
Williams and son of Metz came Friday for a short visit with his sister,
Mrs. L. L. Waterhouse. The Gage friends of G. R. Lucas were very
much shocked to learn of his death.
Lake Valley - Eli Klink and
wife spent Friday in Reading, MI with their son Lawrence. Clyde
Dole, wife and daughter Zema spent Sunday in Hudson with Mr. Dole’s
parents.
Flint - Following is a list of
graduates from the Flint High School: Lura E. Benninghoof, Sara E.
Davis, Lula Gideon, Eula M. Golden, Fred S. Mott, and Abijah D.
Parsell.
Orland - W. J. Case and
daughter Celia wheeled to Stroh and back Saturday. Florence Lyons
will spend a couple of weeks with her sister Mrs. Edith McNickle of
Ray. David West and son Charles left Tuesday morning for
Tennessee.
Fremont - Mrs. Anna Cuil and little daughter Eileen are guests of the
former’s brother, Fred Bevier. E. S. Hilton and wife went to East
Gilead, Michigan last week to visit his daughter Mrs. J. B. Hughes.
N. Otsego - Clara Schmeiser is
staying with her Aunt Mrs. Peter Weffler of York, who is very poor
health. Miss Cora Cary of York Township, was the guest of
her sister Mrs. Cassius Barr, last Thursday.
Metz - Frank Parsons,
northwest of Metz had a severe stroke of paralysis one-day last week.
Circuit Court - Red Sand Beach
Ass’n vs William Case - change of venue to DeKalb County. Rachel
Heckathorn vs Charles Heckathorn - complaint for divorce,
dismissed. Harvey A. Gish vs Clara E. Gish - divorce, findings
for plaintiff granting custody of child with opportunity for defendant
to visit child at all reasonable times in the home provided for said
child by plaintiff. Estate of Isabelle Croxton - settled.
