Obituaries - Mary Ann Mabrey,
Roberta Cowen, Mary Frances Lake, Frank E. Millis
Salem Center - Mrs. Kirtland of
Kansas, a sister of Mrs. E. D. Gunsaullus is visiting her.
Mrs. A. K. Hammond, who has been visiting with her daughter Mrs. Flem
Bodley, returned to her home in Fort Wayne last Thursday.
Orland - Mrs. Nettie Aldrich
returned home Sunday after a two weeks visit with her son Frank Lewis
and Family in Angola. Mrs. E. A. Trisbie of Angola
accompanied her brother Wesley Helme home Sunday and is a guest of her
sister Mrs. John Thompson. From the Eaton Herald, “Married 3 Aug
1903, Victor Benschoten and Miss Louise Swatz, both of Eaton.”
Vic was an Orland boy and his many friend here wish him and his new
wife happiness.
Pleasant Lake - Myron Bland of
Kendallville, visited his mother, Mrs. Mary Shumaker over
Sunday. Joseph Frederick and wife spent Sunday with their
daughter, Mrs. John Grimm in Garrett. Mrs. Addie Pember and son,
Tern Leasure, of Ft. Wayne spend a few days with her sister Mrs. Samuel
Freman last week.
Local - Paul Horn visited his
sister Mrs. J. E. Swanger of Jonesville last week. The 3rd annual
reunion of the Wolf family will be held at the old homestead now owned
by F. F. Wolf west of Mt. Zion Church August 25. Alonzo Dunham
was 91 years old last Sunday and in keeping with his time honored
custom paid his subscription to the Republican in advance. Miss
Edna Wilson who has been in the home of Mrs. Rakestraw for over 2
years, took the train last Saturday morning for Harwick, Iowa, where
she no doubt, before this time, has been joined in marriage with
William Loughrey, formerly of Steuben Township.
South Jamestown - Mrs. Ward
Philo of Flint, visited her son, A. Spangle and family, Sunday.
Mrs. Lora McGrew and son visited her sister Mrs. Irma Eckert last
Friday.
Flint - Inez Gleason is no
better. George Rude of Jackson Prairie died suddenly Sunday
evening.
York - Frank Shook and wife
visited their son Artie at Albion, MI the first of the week. Zoe
Wicoff spent part of last week with her sister Mrs. Lute Hutchins near
Angola. Mr. and Mrs. Provines of Spencerville are visiting
their daughter Mrs. P. A. Walter.
Hudson - Miss Clara Leinsting
of Chicago is a guest of her sister Mrs. E. Frazier, also her mother
arrived Saturday for a visit. Mrs. Dull died at her home,
Thursday evening age 75 years. The funeral was held at the U. B.
Church Saturday morning, Rev. Davis officiating. The funeral of
Milo Betts who was drowned August 9, 1903 was held in the M. E. Church
Wednesday morning.
Hamilton - Mrs. Asa Feil of
Michigan is visiting her father Perry Sewell. Miss Blanch
Grambling of near Hudson is visiting her brother Ed. Mrs.
Doty of Ashley is visiting her parents Artemas McClish and wife.
H. C. Oberlin and wife visited their daughter Mrs. Harley Swift last
Sunday. Mrs. Monroe Mussleman of Butler visited her father T. A.
Beecher and family last week. Monday, August 10th a number of the
children of class 9 of the M. E. Sunday School, were visitors to the
home of Victor Roblett in honor of his 7th birthday. Games were
played and a peanut hunt took place, light refreshments were served.
North Otsego - Cass Smith and
wife attended the funeral of Mrs. Mary Ann Mabrey at E. Gilead last
Wednesday. Will Turpening of Maumee, Ohio was the guest of his
brother in law John W. Sickels and wife last Sunday. Daniel Corey
of near Edon and daughter Mrs. Manda Everhart and baby of Detroit were
the guests of Mr. Corey’s niece, Mrs. Lorenzo Burch and family last
Sunday.
North Scott - The Elliott
Reunion will be held at the home of John Dotts on Saturday August
22. George Letts will teach at the Woodworth School the coming
term.
Nevada -Lois Collins of
Jamestown spent Sunday with her cousin Florence Collins.
Otsego Center - Orda Ebel
visited her cousin Dessie Night of near Summit, the past two
weeks. Mrs. Frank Ebel and children visited her sister Mrs. Jack
Night, near Summit. About 40 boys and girls met at the home of
Blanche Gates Tuesday evening in honor of her 16th birthday.
Fremont - Elmer Wood and wife
are the proud parents of a son, born Sunday morning August 16th, weight
9 and 1/2 pounds. Dr. Frank Dewey, wife and daughter of Elkhart
are visiting her brother and other friends.
Jamestown - Mr. and Mrs. Shine
of N. Dakota are guests of her brother George W. McKim.
Helmer - A large attendance for
James J. Wren’s funeral last Friday held at Turkey Creek Chapel.
Rev. Loutzenhiser of Hudson officiated.
Alvarado - Born August 16,1903
to Charles Wright and wife a son and first child. Mrs. David
Scoville of Angola was guest of Sam Brooks and family last Sunday.
Lake Valley - Elsie George
visited with her grandparents Jessie Avery and wife last week.
Pleasant View - Ora Coleman is
at Angola working on the electric line. He will be the motorman.
